Megan Howie
Provisional Psychologist
Megan (she/her) is a Provisional Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience as a counsellor, working extensively across community and training settings. In Alice Springs, Megan supported unemployed Aboriginal people in a mentoring role and also worked as a trainer in family and domestic violence.
As a therapist, Megan draws on a range of evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based approaches and behaviour modification interventions. She is particularly passionate about ACT and has completed specialist training in ACT for trauma, anxiety and depression, as well as ACT and neurodivergence.
Megan enjoys working collaboratively with clients to help them create meaningful change. She works with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, grief and interpersonal difficulties.
Psychology is Megan's second career, following a background in hospitality where she owned and operated three small businesses and worked as a caterer and chef. Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her family, swimming in the ocean, bush walking, attending gym classes, travelling and cooking. She also loves dancing (especially while cooking!), hosting friends for dinner, reading and watching movies.
Megan is available for face-to-face sessions in Hobart, or via telehealth Australia-wide.
