Our Story

The  Crawley Clinic was first established in Hobart in 2000 as the sole practice our Director, Dr Tess Crawley (clinical and forensic psychologist). In 2009, the practice grew and became Dr Tess Crawley & Associates. The first of many rural outreach clinics was established in 2014, in Triabunna on the east coast of Tasmania, followed by Swansea, Bicheno and eventually St Helens. This rural work led to Tess successfully winning Commonwealth funding through Primary Health Tasmania in 2016 to run the STPI (short-term psychological interventions) program in northern and east coast Tasmania. This led to the opening of The Crawley Clinic Launceston and rural outreach services to George Town, Scottsdale, and St Marys (in addition to our east coast outreach).

The practice was officially rebadged as The Crawley Clinic in late 2018, and part of the practice (The Crawley Clinic Hobart) was sold in early 2020.

Tess was based in Melbourne between late 2019 and mid-2023, establishing The Crawley Clinic Melbourne and Crawley House during Melbourne’s coronavirus lockdowns in 2020.  The Crawley Clinic Melbourne’s psychologists provide psychological services to Melbourne-based clients as well as additional support to our Tasmanian and other clients via Telehealth. Crawley House also accommodates other psychology practices, who act as affiliates to The Crawley Clinic.

In 2022 The Crawley Clinic was offered additional PHT funding to expand the STPI program into Hobart and southern regions of Tasmania, including rural outreach to Huonville, New Norfolk, Oatlands, and other areas.

Tess was nominated in several categories in the 2019 Australian Allied Health Awards, and was Finalist for 2019 Psychologist of the Year.

The Crawley Clinic was nominated for the Australian Allied Health Awards in 2021 and was named a Finalist for the 2021 Team Culture Excellence Award.
