Laura Davis
Psychologist
Laura (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist who completed her studies and training in Tasmania. She has spent over 15 years working in various Mental Health roles in Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin and Alice Springs before recently returning to Launceston.
Laura has a special interest working with parents and infants during that very early and important life phase. She aims to help mothers and fathers as they navigate the challenges arising throughout their perinatal journey. Laura offers support with issues spanning the perinatal period from planning of conception, throughout pregnancy and into postpartum. Her primary interests are in perinatal anxiety and depression (birthing and non-birthing partners), issues with parent-infant bonding, attachment and adjustment to parenting and infant/toddler social and emotional development. Laura actively supports single parents and same-sex families.
Laura also enjoys working with children, adolescents and young adults aged 12-25 years around a range of issues including mood disorders, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, school issues and interpersonal difficulties. She is also able to provide support to the broader family around parenting, attachment and family issues.
Laura utilises a range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical-Informed Behaviour Therapy along with mindfulness-based approaches and behaviour modification interventions. She is trained in Circle of Security and Tuning into Teens programs and has undertaken additional perinatal and infant mental health training via the Perinatal Training Centre.
Laura is available for face-to-face sessions in Launceston or telehealth appointments.
