Robyn Young
Provisional Psychologist | Albert Park (Melbourne) & Telehealth
Robyn (she/her) is a Provisional Psychologist with Master of Professional Psychology from the University of Melbourne. She provides evidence-based therapy for adolescents, adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, chronic illness, chronic pain, disability, cancer-related concerns, relationship difficulties and life transitions.
Robyn is known for her warm, compassionate and trauma-informed approach, creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
She has extensive experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and with people living with disability across community, public and private health settings. Robyn has also completed additional training in psycho-oncology and has a particular interest in supporting people affected by cancer, as well as those living with chronic illness, persistent pain, and grief and loss. She understands the emotional impact that physical health conditions can have on individuals and families and works collaboratively with clients to support psychological wellbeing alongside medical care.
Robyn is currently conducting research for a PhD at the University of Melbourne. Her research is based on the development and evaluation of a digitally delivered acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) intervention to improve outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer.
Her therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual and draws on a range of evidence-based therapies, including:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-based approaches
Outside of work, Robyn enjoys swimming, hiking, camping, spending time in nature, and relaxing with a good book.
